When H.E President J. A Kufuor declared a '
Golden Age of Business for Ghana' in his inaugural address as President of the Republic of Ghana in January 2001, this declaration was followed through with the creation of the
Ministry for Private Sector Development [MPSD]. The ministry's core challenge is to facilitate the development and growth of a competitive and vibrant private sector and also to help reduce the cost of doing business in Ghana.
In addition to the special ministries charter, the various governmental business initiatives and incentives, Ghana is well placed for potential international investors. The countries' political stability coupled with its human resources also places the country ahead of other African economies.
The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) is a government agency, re-established under the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre Act, 1994 (Act 478). Its core operational divisions are:
