VISAS
The Ghana Consulate General is responsible for processing visa applications for clients residing in New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South
Australia and Tasmania. We also process visa applications for citizens of New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Timor Leste, Pacific Island nations and citizens of other countries who are visiting Australia.

Visa Checklist
We recommend when you are about to apply for a Ghanaian visa, apply within at least 2 weeks before leaving for Ghana.
In all cases, If you are applying for a visa on behalf of a child either both parents must sign the application forms
or if only one parent signs the other parent must provide a letter of consent.
Please note that all payments relating to visa applications must be in cash, postal/money order or international bank
draft, all in Australian dollars. If applicants pay by personal cheque then processing of their visa applications
will be delayed by seven working days and will be subject to the personal cheque being cleared.
Personal cheques drawn in foreign currency or on banks outside Australia will not be accepted.

Applicants for visas must comply with all the visa requirements as set out in the applicable Checklist.
We also offer an Express/Emergency Visa Service where applicants seek the grant of a visa within two(2)
clear working days from date of lodgment- in this case, and provided all visa requirements are met and we have
sufficient time available(no guarantee is given)a visa may be issued upon payment of an additional $100.00 over the normal rate for five(5) clear day processing.

OTHER CONSULAR SERVICES
The Consulate General provides a wide range of services to Ghanaian citizens in Australia as well as providing information to Australians or other nationals in Australia enquiring about business or tourist opportunities in Ghana. The expediency of this office to assist depends on the nature and complexity of the problem. While some issues may be addressed immediately, others may require additional consular assistance over a period of time.
Listed below is a brief summary of the type of assistance you
can and
cannot expect from our Office.
We CAN
- Issue visas and assist with passport applications (applicant must provide relevant documentation and comply with procedures required by law), including emergency visas;
- visit or contact you if you are arrested and arrange for your family to be informed if you wish.
- contact relatives and friends on your behalf to ask them to assist you with money or tickets.
- witness and certify signatures and provide certain other notarial services (specified fees apply)
- provide voting facilities during elections (if permitted)
Consular functions are governed by international agreements and standards of service with limits on the extent to which the
Consulate General can intervene on your behalf. There may be further limitations on assistance given if you are a dual national
in the country of your second nationality.
We CANNOT
- arrange visas, work or residence permits for other countries, or help you to obtain them;
- give legal advice, intervene in court proceedings or provide funds to pay your legal costs or fines;
- get you out of prison or obtain special treatment for you in prison;
- pay or guarantee payment of your hotel, medical or any other bills, including the cost of travel or returning lost luggage to Ghana;
- act as a travel agent, airline, bank or post office, or store your goods or luggage;
- become involved in commercial disputes or take up complaints about local purchases etc;
- provide interpreter, telephone or photocopy services;
- help find you a job in Australia or overseas;
- investigate crimes in Australia or foreign countries;
- obtain a driver's licence or other permits (liase with motoring organisations)on your behalf
